A selection of my latest YouTube videos, including race footage and hill climbs videos.
Episode 1 - My first Cat 4 bike race, part of the Velo29 Winter Series with cycle races/crit races held at Croft Race Circuit. Am I good enough?
Episode 2 - One of my favourite local bike climbs, located in Yorkshire and cycling through glorious Yorkshire Countryside. Trapping Hill is a tough short and punchy climb, popular with local cyclists, with an average gradient of almost 10% and hitting 20% plus in sections. Certainly one to check out.
Episode 3 - My second Cat 4 bike race, again part of the @velo29events22 Winter Series, with cycle races/crit races held at Croft Race Circuit.
Episode 4 - Can I last a lap? My third Cat 4 bike race, part of the @velo29events22 Winter Series, held at Croft Race Circuit.
Episode 5 - Another one of my favourite local bike climbs, White Horse Bank is a tricky winding climb, with an average of 10% and hitting 25% plus in sections. The climb is made even harder in wet seasons, as the surface gets very slippy, making it difficult to get traction. Located in Kilburn, it is certainly one to check out, follow the page for more hill climb videos.
Episode 6 - My fourth Cat 4 UK bike race, the final race in the @velo29events22 Winter Series, held at Croft Race Circuit.
Episode 7 - Can You Stick To A Steady Ride? Chilled Winter Miles and a Bonus All Out Hill Effort! Join me for some leisurely winter miles, a puncture, chat with the police and obviously, a two minute all out hill climb effort! Just your average bike ride...
Episode 8 - More hill climb adventures and my first time tackling Witton Steeps. A tough climb, but the views made it worth it! Hitting over 30% in gorgeous Yorkshire countryside, it appears once was not enough!
Episode 9 - Using Zwift and my Wattbike Atom Next Generation to carry out an FTP Ramp Test, as painful and brutal as always. Can I beat my last FTP? Will I be sick?!! I have done many FTP tests over the years, but this is only my second attempt at a ramp test.
Episode 10 - I attempt the shortest sprint race I could find on Zwift, although I have found shorter since, so I obviously didn't look hard enough! This is a Cat C, 4 mile indoor race, great fun and over before you know it. How do I get on?
Episode 11 - My first visit to the Bodington Circuit for the Rayner Foundation Round 2 Cat 3/4 cycle/crit race held at Brownlee Circuit in Leeds and my first proper crit race. I finished 38th out of 44 starters and looking at the results after making the video, the vast majority were Cat 3, with only around 10 Cat 4 riders, including myself. It was a fantatsic experience and I cannot wait to get back there soon.
Episode 12 - A brief chat about hitting six months sober and my Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) diagnosis in 2022, plus a KOM attempt of course! Since my diagnosis and quitting drinking, I have lost several kg in weight and my cycling has improved, along with my energy and focus. I touch on my condition briefly, but please let me know if you have any questions or if you yourself, exercise with AFib.
Episode 13 - Join me on my first Chain Gang ride of the year, with my local cycle club Moonglu. We hit some local Yorkshire roads for our regular Thursday night rides and I hope you enjoy the footage.
Episode 14 - My second visit to the Bodington Circuit for the Rayner Foundation Round 3 Cat 3/4 cycle/crit race held at Brownlee Circuit in Leeds. Sadly the video is short, like my effort on the day! It was however a great experience.
Episode 15 - More mid week chain gang cycling fun with my local cycle club Moonglu. We tackle a 30 mile loop this week, fairly flat with just over 1000 ft of climbing.
Episode 16 - Join me on my first 100 mile century bike ride of 2023, taking in some glorious Yorkshire countryside on the way. This was a shock to the system, as most of my cycling this year has been shorter distances. What's the furthest you've ridden?
Episode 17 - Join me for another fast and frantic club ride and the first hilly one of 2023, a regular route with my local cycle club Moonglu.
Episode 18 - Join me on a chilled Sunday social cafe ride, then I tackle some more brutal Yorkshire hills, including Boltby Bank. One tough hill, made even harder by the hilly approach and tricky surface on the climb in parts, as you will see! Worth it for the views though....
